Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Telemetry Technician for the department of Medicine at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
The primary purpose of the Telemetry Technologist position is to provide high-level confidential direct patient care by assisting in the management of remote monitoring and remote interrogation of cardiovascular implantable electronic devices, wearable electronic devices, maintaining equipment, arranging services, and assuring appropriate documentation.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Responsible for managing the Remote Monitoring(RM) and Remote Interrogation (RI) of Cardiovascular Implantable Electronic Devices (CIED).
Enroll patients with CIED into RM System.
Monitor the device Company websites including but not limited to: Medtronic, Merlin, Boston Scientific and Biotronik, for pre-specified alerts.
Schedule and confirm appointments for RI.
Review and enter data from RI into the EMR device form.
Forward device and billing forms to the responsible physician.
Notify physicians of alerts from RM or for shocks or other significant arrhythmias noted on RI.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
High school graduate or equivalent.
Three (3) to six (6) months of the healthcare experience or training in the use of electrocardiograph equipment.
Successful completion of a program in the specialty.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in the reading of EKG strips.
CDRMS (Cardiac Device Remote Monitoring Specialist) or CCDS (Certified Cardiac Device Specialist) certification.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Physical Demands: Position requires standing to 2/3 of the time, walking to 2/3 of the time, requires sitting to 2/3 of the time, use of the hands to finger, handle or feel to 2/3 of the time, reach with hands and arms over 1/3 of the time, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl under 1/3 of the time, talk or hear over 2/3 of the time. Position requires lifting 1/3 of the time up to 10 pounds, and under 1/3 of the time up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment: Moderate noise environment with some exposure (less than 1/3 of the time) to blood borne pathogens requiring the use of personal protective equipment; some potential exposure (less than 1/3 of the time) to hazardous waste.
