JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsible for creating recordings of electromotive variations in patient's heart muscle to provide data for diagnosis of heart ailments, operating electrocardiograph (EKG/ECG) machine. Maintains and equips ECG/EKG machine and performs administrative tasks within the department.
Principal Accountabilities:
Performs electrocardiograms (EKG) and other cardio graphic tests as directed by physician.
Applies electrodes for EKG testing according to universal standards for lead placement.
Applies electrodes to chest, arms, and legs of patient and moves them along specified area of chest to produce electrocardiogram that records electromotive variations occurring in different areas of heart muscle.
Monitors electrocardiogram for abnormal patterns.
Keys information into machine or marks tracing to indicate positions of chest electrodes.
Explains the procedure to the patients, addresses their concerns and assists them in preparing for the test.
Maintains equipment's and supplies, assembles basic ECG/EKG equipment's and prepares the machine for daily use.
Edits and forwards final test results to attending physician for analysis and interpretation.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
ECG certification and/or prior experience
