Summary:
Uses telemetry equipment to monitor cardiac rhythm patterns of patients requiring telemetry monitoring. Monitors, records, reports, and documents abnormal cardiac rhythm patterns, records changes in rhythm, records and reports abnormal ECG interval measures, and, notes pacemaker function and reports to the RN.
Responsibilities:
Maintains the functions of the central cardiac monitoring system and its transmitters. This includes, but is not limited to proper lead placement, battery, and equipment care.
Documents cardiac rhythm activity with in the clinical computer system, and enters a printed rhythm strip each shift to be placed in the ECG manual.
Reports any changes in rhythm to the RN, documents information in qcpr and enters strip into the ECG manual.
Responsible for strips of any float nurse who may not be competent in rhythm analysis.
Assists physicians and nurses with rhythm interpretations
Enters a printed admission and transfer strip in the ECG manual
Other duties as assigned
Credentials:
Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
American Heart Association - Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - required prior to successful completion of orientation
Education or Equivalent Experience:
H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
High School Diploma or equivalent Previous experience in a hospital setting - Preferred
Other (Required)
Successful completion of a basic arrhythmia course with in 3 months of hire
