Position Summary
The Phlebotomist is responsible for the collection of routine, STAT, and other requested blood samples and their safe delivery to the technical areas for analysis. In addition, the phlebotomist is responsible for electronically entering provider orders in the outpatient settings.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
Acts as a patient advocate and upholds patient rights.
Assures all patients are correctly identified prior to providing and/or documenting care.
Documents in a clear and legible manner.
Recognizes and integrates patient special needs and individualizes care.
Adapts work schedule to meet emergency staffing needs.
Assists in central processing by receiving specimens, responding to pneumatic tube and answering telephones, draws blood samples.
Is responsive, courteous, respectful and cooperative in completing tasks.
Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements
Currently enrolled in a Vocational/Technical program
Intermediate computer skills, excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods with the ability to lift, push and pull.
