Responsibilities:
The primary purpose of the EKG Technician position is to perform electrocardiograms (EKG) to obtain a graphic tracing of electromotive variations and impulses of the heart as observed by the Cardiovascular Coordinator. Possesses the ability, education, and experience required to meet the needs of the population served (all ages, newborn to geriatric).
Measurement criteria are “as observed by the Cardiovascular Coordinator or Chief Technologist” unless otherwise indicated.
Qualifications: EKG Technician Certification
Shift: 12 Midnight & Weekends
High school or equivalent certification program required. Certification in electrocardiography must be demonstrated by completion of an accredited school/program. Certified in electrocardiography preferred. CPR certification and successful completion of basic ECG interpretation course required. A minimum of one (1) year of experience is required.
The employee must be able to ambulate the nursing units while manipulating the EKG cart. He/She must have the ability to perform electrocardiograms on patients of all ages and the clerical skills necessary to complete a charge sheet and tabulate the daily work volume. Ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position.
