SUBJECT: JOB DESCRIPTION — Phlebotomist
effectively and diplomatically with frustrated patients, families, staff, and providers.
Ability and means to travel to various locations, including but not limited to other
FDL offices and sites.
Physical Body position: Sitting, standing, bending, reaching, stretching,
stooping and lifting up to 30 pound of equipment.
Body movements: Must have ability to bend, stoop, twist and work with a
computer. May involve lifting up to 30 pounds of
equipment.
Body senses: Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to
record, prepare and communicate appropriate
documents.
Mental Mathematics: Knowledge of basic mathematics. Language: English and
Spanish is a must , high school level. Must be
able to communicate effectively both verbally and in
writing
WORKING CONDITIONS
Inside and sedentary, requires sitting and standing for long periods of time. Work is performed in an office environment and at outside locations. Occasional stress in dealing with multiple tasks
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
DUTIES AND TASKS
Greet patients, register and check in visits based on requested testing and insurance coverage.
Recognize and resolve questionable orders and patient identification.
Confer with patients to obtain information for laboratory records, explain procedures, allay fears, and elicit cooperation.
Obtain blood specimens by performing venipunctures and fingersticks.
Instruct patients in a sensitive and understandable way on the proper
collection method for urine samples.
Follow established guidelines for missed collections, recollects, and difficult phlebotomies.
Process samples using aseptic technique and prepare required paperwork for FDL testing and reference lab testing.
Prepare and communicate results of analyses clearly and legibly.
Distribute reference lab result reports to the appropriate providers.
Participate in the orientation and training of other personnel.
Organize and prioritize workload to avoid delays for patients, testing, and/or reporting results.
Ensure an adequate level of supplies based on anticipated needs, ensure that work areas are stocked, and maintain records of inventory orders and receipt.
Evaluate, address, and/or escalate requests for add-on testing, general laboratory information, and billing inquiries as appropriate.
Work any shift or location as assigned, as needed.
Maintains cooperative working relationship with all personnel.
Always provides proper notification and advance notice of absences.
Reports to work on time each day.
Maintains a well-groomed appropriate appearance.
Maintains a clean, well-kept work area.
Follows all safety rules, including universal precautions.
Attends of all general staff meetings.
Performs any other duties as may be assigned.
Must be available for house call if is necessary and schedule by Company.

Pay: From $17.00 per hour

Monday to Friday
Rotating shift
Rotating weekends
Weekends as needed
